Boy Scout Advancement

Boy Scouting provides a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as he meets each challenge. The Boy Scout is rewarded for each achievement, which helps him gain self-confidence. The steps in the advancement system help a Boy Scout grow in self-reliance and in the ability to help others. For additional information on the advancement program for Boy Scouts,  CLICK HEREExternal Link.

Eagle Scout Preparation

The requirements for the Eagle rank are similar in many ways to the requirements for the previous ranks a Scout has earned in Scouting. A Scout should have little trouble understanding most of the requirements as they are listed in The Boy Scout Handbook and on the Eagle Scout Rank Application.

The one requirement that gives many Eagle candidates some difficulty is the Eagle Scout leadership service project. In most previous rank advancements, a Scout was required to participate in some type of service to the community. However, to achieve the Eagle rank he must do more than participate, he must plan and lead a project himself. This is usually the most challenging and time-consuming parts of a Scout’s advancement to Eagle.
