Sportsman's Challenge

Join us for the Pikes Peak Council's Sportsman's Challenge and Community! Gun and archery enthusiasts are invited to compete in the pistol, rifle and archery competitions with grand prizes of firearms! Divisions for youth and adults with military and team discounts! Come out for a morning of shooting and support the local Boy Scouts in Colorado Springs!

General info:  Saturday, Oct 21st, 2017

The Sportsman's Challenge is a unique competition, fun for both the experienced and novice shooter.  As a team or as an individual, all shooters have the opportunity to participate in five different scored events within three different shooting disciplines.  Events include rifle, pistol and archery.  The fun continues with several different stations to test your skills including trick shots and Sporting Arrows (a clay style archery event).  Scored stations include:

  • Pistol and Rifle (New for 2017) - Shooters will take place in several different scenarios that will resemble a modified IDPA style of shooting.  IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) style shooting may involve shoot/no shoot targets, shooting through or around barriers, moving targets or standing/crouching.  You won't know until the day of the competition what the scenarios will be so come prepared to have fun!
  • Archery - Back by popular demand - participants will be shooting traditional bows at decoys.
  • Mystery station - we're mixing it up this year - come prepared for anything!

The event is highlighted by a catered BBQ lunch.

Prizes for Top Shooting Youth and Adult:

  • Youth prize - Ruger 10/22 Rifle - Model 11100 - K10/22-TD (22LR)
  • Adult prize - Ruger Pistol - Model 3620 - SR22PB-45 (22LR)
  • Team prizes - Trophies for the top team and bragging rights!

Kid's Fun Shoot and Community Auction:

The event will also be held in conjunction with a kid's fun shoot (Archery and BB stations), a bounce house and several hand's on activities for all.  A community auction with over $20,000 worth of prizes will take place in conjunctions with the kid's shoot and the Sportsman's Challenge.  It will be held in the Bass Pro parking lot from 11am to 3pm.  A live auction with ton's of experiences, guns and outdoor equipment will be held starting at 1:30pm.  Click here for more details about the community auction and to check out the donors:
