Family Camping at Camp Alexander

Stay at Camp Alexander this summer.

Due to COVID-19 the Pikes Peak Council is unable to operate our usual Scouts BSA summer camp operation at Camp Alexander for the summer of 2020.  This is an unfortunate situation for the Pikes Peak Council and few thousand scouts and leaders that have been planning to have a week of fun and adventure in the mountains of Colorado.

We are working to make the best of this situation by opening up an opportunity for scout families to enjoy this beautiful camp property during a time that it has never been available to them.  Current regulations will only allow families to enjoy camping together.

We know that many family vacations plans have changed and we hope you will take the opportunity to spend a few nights at Camp Alexander with us.

  • We have a few different tent and cabin options available.  Cabins coming soon.
  • We will not be able to provide any program options or food, think of this like taking your family camping at a state or national park or other campground.
  • You are responsible for your own food and must store food at night.
  • All bookings must be done online, we will not be able to offer any “walk up” reservations.

What you get:

  • Most of our options include 2 of our tents normally used for Scouts BSA summer camp.  These canvas tents measure 8' x 12' and have wood floors.  Tent rentals start at $30/night for 2 tents.
  • Each campsite is equipped with a shelter and tables, pit toilet, and running water.
  • Use Camp Alexander as a "base camp" for your family vacation, enjoy fishing in Eleven Mile Canyon, enjoy nearby public lands, and state parks.

While this will be a family outing, it will be at a scout camp, so we ask that you follow the same rules you would if your family were camping with your unit (no drugs or alcohol on Camp Alexander property, smoking only in designated areas, no pets, observe quiet hours).

There are plenty of hiking opportunities, you can bring a mountain bike and enjoy plenty of trails, or bring fishing gear and enjoy access to the South Platte River for some amazing fly fishing.  Or just enjoy a few quiet nights in the mountains.   Unfortunately, climbing, shooting sports areas, and aquatics activities are not currently available to families renting our facilities.

Currently, our options are open to families, we hope to be open to small “non family” groups like small troops, patrols, small packs, and dens in the coming weeks.
