Scouting At Home

Having to postpone or outright cancel events can certainly dampen our scouting spirit, but it doesn’t mean that we cannot find alternative ways to Scout from home! Here are some ideas to keep your scouts, young or old, energized and excited about the scouting program.  Below you will find some of the best tips and tricks to keeping your Scouts engaged while #scoutingathome.

Virtual Meetings

Consider hosting meetings virtually. Much of the scouting program can be done at home and there are a myriad of platforms that are available. Many Cub Scout Packs have both sent home "homework" to help their scouts stay on track while at home. For some requirements, substitute "with your family" for "with you den" and remember to do your Cub Scout best!  Scouts BSA Troops are hosting Troop meetings, Patrol Meetings, and Committee Meetings all via platforms like Zoom, Gotomeeting, and Google Hangouts. Find the best platform for your unit!

30 Day Challenge

Check out these 30 Day Challenges brought to you from our friends at the Hawkeye area council!  For Cub Scouts, This is a fantastic resource that will provide a simple daily activity that you can do with your Scout. You can start the challenge at any time and you can make up any missed days easily! What other resource can help your Scout earn 5 different adventures in 30 days?

Have a Scouts BSA Scout?   Help your Scout keep their skills sharp with this 30-day challenge to help with adventure and elective requirements, and merit badge requirements that can be worked on at home.

Virtual Campout

More than anything, our scouts are missing their time together in the great outdoors! While we cannot camp together in our favorite spots in the mountains, we can camp in our backyards and homes as a family!  Miss the debut of our Virtual Campout?  Don't worry! We recorded it and put it on our council Youtube Channel. Check out the link below! Link

Program Planning

In February we announced the introduction of the Pikes Peak Council's Program Planning Kick-Off.  We were hoping to launch the 1 hour in person training in April to take place of the regularly scheduled Roundtables.  Just like many of you, we have had to make adjustments and have made the training completely virtual via our Youtube Channel.
