FINAL UPDATE,  February 4, 2010:  Only a couple days until the main event and all systems are a "GO!"...

All registered participants should enter the USAFA via the South Gate near the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and I-25.  Security has been provided a list of participants so everyone should have no problem getting onto the USAFA and to the event.

Please remember the items I highlighted via email this past Monday.   Some keys...

  • This is a uniformed Scouting event.  Please wear your uniform for your position.
  • Bring paper and something to write with.  (Business/contact cards are also a good idea!)
  • Budget about ten minutes to get from the gate to the event venue.  Pay attention to the posted speed limit.  Signs will direct you along the way to parking, located just west of the Community Center.
  • Covered drinks and light snacks are allowed in the classrooms.  There will be no food/beverage services other than lunch.  Please "leave no trace"...
  • We will kick-off promptly at 8:00 a.m.
  • If for some reason you cannot check-in prior to our opening ceremony,  all check-in packets will be available at the Information Desk in the Academic Building following the opening (~8:30 a.m.)
  • Check-out will be done following the closing ceremony.  If you must leave early, please stop by the Information Desk to pick up your materials.
  • Thank your instructors for their time and support of your University of Scouting!

December 26, 2009:  All faculty and instructors are reminded that we will meet on Saturday, January 9, from 0830-1030 at the Council Activity Center to address any final issues for the event.  Scouters who would like to know more about the event are also invited to attend.

Please spread the word!  Only two more weeks for "Early Bird" registration.  After December 11, the cost will increase to $35.

Nov 19, 2009:  We have been working through some technical issues with the course registration but expect it to be online this weekend.  If you are still unable to register for your courses, please be assured that your date of registration "holds your place in line" for course selection.  Thank you for your patience.

Nov 13, 2009:  We are finalizing our instructor line up but here is the course schedule...

"Early Bird" registration will close in 30 days!  Get registered and be prepared for a great experience!

Oct 23, 2009:  University of Scouting Pre-Registration is now open.  Registration will be done from the PPC main Web Site.  You may either go the the Council Website's calendar and navigate to "Feburary 6, 2010," open the event and select "Register," or you may click on the this direct link

After registering for the event, you will receive an email with instructions on how to select your desired courses.  Each course is quota controlled based on the classroom size.  If you find that a course is not available, it has already been filled and you will need to select an alternate course.

The Pikes Peak Council is excited to introduce the University of Scouting on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

What is the “University of Scouting”? A whole lot of fun for Scouters! It is an action-packed, fun-filled day of supplemental training where you choose the sessions that you want to take. Simply stated University of Scouting (UoS) offers excellent supplemental training. It gives you the confidence and skills to help you build a better program for your Scouts.

The event offers a variety of courses designed to provide additional information in all areas and sections of Scouting. There are no prerequisites as this training is intended to enrich your program experience, improve your program quality, and have an even more positive impact on the youth of Pikes Peak Council.

Who should attend? UoS is designed for all adult leaders within Scouts regardless of function or section. Come learn from these sessions and add quality to your program - GUARANTEED!

What Courses are Available?

There are 60 different courses available to all. These are divided into the fundamental areas of General Scouting, Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, High Adventure/Venturing, and Commissioner Science. Pick and choose the courses that you believe would benefit your program most. You are not limited to courses for your present position or program. If you see a class that interests you, sign up! Who Should Attend University of Scouting?

All registered leaders, potential leaders and parents that are looking for the very best program for their boys will find a variety of class sessions relevant to their position in Scouting.

Day care and youth training programs will NOT be available at the University of Scouting.
